““Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; Before you were born, I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”” Jeremiah 1:5
“For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” NASB2020 29:11 Jeremiah
“But when God, who had chosen me and set me apart before I was born, and called me through His grace, was pleased to reveal His Son in me so that I might preach Him among the Gentiles [as the good news—the way of salvation], I did not immediately consult with anyone [for guidance regarding God’s call and His revelation to me].”
AMP 16-1:15 Galatians
““Now when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his ancestors and his body decayed.” Acts 13:36 NIV
“I will cry to God Most High, who accomplishes all things on my behalf [for He completes my purpose in His plan].”
AMP 57:2 Psalms
“For if you remain silent at this time, liberation and rescue will arise for the Jews from another place, and you and your father’s house will perish [since you did not help when you had the chance]. And who knows whether you have attained royalty for such a time as this [and for this very purpose]?”” AMP 4:14 Esther
“Just as [in His love] He chose us in Christ [actually selected us for Himself as His own] before the foundation of the world, so that we would be holy [that is, consecrated, set apart for Him, purpose-driven] and blameless in His sight. In love He predestined and lovingly planned for us to be adopted to Himself as [His own] children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the kind intention and good pleasure of His will—”. AMP 5-1:4 Ephesians
“For just as the body is one and yet has many parts, and all the parts, though many, form [only] one body, so it is with Christ.” AMP 12:12 1 Corinthians
From these verses and many more just like them, we can clearly see that we all have a definite cause or purpose for our lives.
God created and designed each of us with a specific goal in mind and planned the exact place in history we were to be born, even before the earth was formed.
Even though we each have our own specific purpose, we must still cooperate with God to accomplish them. God never forces himself on anyone. God has given us free will.
God shows us in Deuteronomy 30:19 and in Joshua 23:15 that we all have a choice to make, either to choose and cooperate with God with our purpose or not. God desires that we choose Him. God desires we choose the plans He has for our lives.
“This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live”
NIV 30:19 Deuteronomy
“But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day (each moment) whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”” Joshua 24:15 NIV
To understand what our purpose would be and to discover how to accomplish God’s plan for our lives we must first ask God to reveal it.
““If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.”
I Chronicles 28:9 NKJV
““Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” Matthew 8-7:7 NKJV
In summary, yes all of us have a purpose for our lives. Gods design a specific plan for each of us. If we want to know His plan we need to ask and seek to understand that plan. Once we realize what God’s will for our lives is, it is up to each of us to choose to fulfill it.
